With reference to the penultimate paragraph

of your letter of the 11th September on the subject of the

proposed Wireless Station at Pratas Islanda, I am directed

to inform you that in the opinion of His Excellency the

Officer Administering the fovorimont there is little

likelihood of the Chinose Authorities doing anything in

this matter at present, though comɑhuportions on the sub-

ject have continued to be sent from this Goverment through

the writish Tomation at Poxing.

For the purpose of typhoon warnings it is

questionable whether the Pratas Islands are the most

advantageous position for such a wireless station; and I

would draw your attention to the analosed letter from the

fevarner-daneral of the Philippine Tslands relative to the

construction of wireless stations be that "overment at

Baguio and on Ratan Island.

At the same tiro I am to inform you that

this dovormont has represented the desirability of

establishing lighthouses on the Pratas and Paracels Islands

to be erected and maintained probably by intornậtional

funds; and this question is at present, it is believed,

under the consideration of His Majesty's fovorment.

If it should be decided to erect a light-

house on the Pratas Talands, the complementary question of
